At the end of 2002 Kontraburger recorded their first record in the Serakos studio in Warsaw's Praga district, released on the Ars Mundi record label. It contains 10 tracks each seemingly from its own world, but creating, we hope, a narrative whole. More»

1. DZIWNY - 4:15
Psychedelic verses and a startling chorus. Climactic solos for guitar and violin. An announcement that anything can happen here.

2. BIZNESMEN - 4:41
A track based on a rock rhythm with oriental ornamentson guitar and violin. Text inspired by Baudelaire's "Litany to Satan" recited by Maga in French. A protest song seasoned with a pinch of irony.

3. BIDA
- 2:53
The folkiest number on the record. A metamorphosis of a folk song from Ukraine into a city environment (see Alphabet).

4. SMOK - 8:17
Start of the Tolkien suite i simultaneously a fantasy folk maifesto. Icelandic songh "Krymne" weaved into the novel about the Green Dragon. Rainsticks and stormdrums backing. Solo by Sylwia on the Plock fiddle.

5. KRASNOLUDY - 3:17
A sudden change in musical climate, but still in the land of the little people. A melodic ballad in an early music style. It's not a bagpipe at the end, but a secret little Bulgarian flute of Sylwia's.

6. PTAK - 6:08
An almost instrumental track spiced with the Jarek's recitation and Maga's vocals. Tarabuka and spolilka on the intro. A bird-orgy on flute and trumpet. End of the Tolkien suite.

7. PIĘKNIE JEST - 5:04
Back on the folk trail. One of the most energetic tracks on the album, from which "kings and managers burn, and violets bloom on every head". The final coda has vocals from Gosia Madejska and a final fiddle section.

8. KARNAWAŁ - 3:21
Our live favourite enriched by an accordeon. Someone called it Spanish punk.

9. MAŁGORZATA - 6:23
An epic story from Bulgakow's the Master and Margharita in a flamenco style. A final instrumental take-off to Woland's ball.

10. SAN MARINO - 2:53
A final silencer. A ballad for 2 guitars and vocals with accordeon backing. A message inspired by the words of Eugenio Barba from the Odin Theatret (see Alphabet).
