In June 2001 Kontraburger took part in the international folk festival FOLKOPRANIE in Skierniwice, where we shared first prize. This led to an invitation to the prestigious European folk festival Tanz&FolkFest in Rudolstadt (Germany - July 2002). Other important concerts are our appearances at: Theatrical Confronation In Gardzienice (2001) and New Tradition (2002) in Warsaw (golden fiddle for Sylwia Świątkowska as best instrumentalist).

In our muscial exploration we travel along the borders of different styles and conventions. Kontraburger's music has been described as: art folk, acoustic rock, ethno-jazz. Taking inspiration from music of different cultures, we use it as a dramatic element, interplaying with literary and self-penned texts.

It's music which arises from our wonder at the irreality of daily life and the reality of imagination.

In December 2002 we recorded our first record "Kontraburger" on the Ars Mundi label.
